Creating Your Own Content - My interview with Vanessa Evans

Hey there friends,

I recently did an interview with independent film producer Vanessa Evans on my podcast, β€œThe Actors Podcast”. We talked about her latest project, "Green Girl Diaries," which is a modern-day adaptation of the musical "Wicked." As I listened to her story, I couldn't help but feel inspired by her journey as an independent producer and filmmaker.

One of the major takeaways from her interview was the importance of creating your own content. As actors, we often rely on others to provide us with opportunities, but in today's world, there are so many ways to create our own opportunities. Evans spoke about how she wrote the entire series of "Green Girl Diaries" overnight and shot it on a shoestring budget. She even used her iPhone to shoot some of the scenes!

Her story reminded me that we have the power to create our own projects and showcase our talents. We don't have to wait for someone else to give us a chance. We can take matters into our own hands and create something that showcases our skills and abilities.

Another important lesson from Evans' story was the importance of building a team you can trust. She talked about how she worked with a team of filmmakers who knew each other and had a shared vision for the project. They were able to work together effectively and produce a high-quality series despite the limited resources they had. This is a great reminder that filmmaking is a collaborative process, and having a strong team can make all the difference.

Finally, Evans spoke about the importance of perseverance and dedication. She worked tirelessly on her project, staying up late to write and constantly thinking about how to improve the project. Her dedication paid off, as "Green Girl Diaries" is now available on YouTube and other social media platforms.

As actors, we can learn a lot from Evans' story. We can create our own content, build a team we can trust, and stay dedicated to our craft. We don't have to wait for others to give us a chance. We have the power to create our own opportunities and showcase our talents to the world.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your phone, write a script, and start shooting. Who knows where it might lead?

Keep on creating!
